Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has held a second Express Entry draw in August, the 41st since the immigration system came into effect in January 2015. On August 24, a total number of 750 candidates were issued Invitations to Apply for Canadian permanent residence. Successful candidates from the pool had a minimum of 538 Comprehensive Ranking System points. This marks a slight increase in the points requirement compared to the draw held on August 10 when candidates with 490 points and above received an ITA.
A total of 49,355 Invitations to Apply have been issued since the system was launched. In 2015, there were 31,063 and so far this year, 18,292 candidates received an ITA. Express Entry is the most popular immigration system in Canada and manages the federal economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Candidates who received an ITA have 60 days to submit an application for permanent residence, which will be processed within six months. Accompanying family members will be able to come to Canada along with the principal applicant.
