Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced yesterday that on June 6, 2017 all French speakers and candidates with a sibling who lives in Canada will receive additional points under their Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Even though these tweaks may not alter the make-up of the pool in a drastic way, these additional points can significantly make a positive difference every candidate who may obtain them.
The CRS will continue to be valid in order to rank and select all the possible candidates in the pool. IRCC will continue to conduct different draws from the pool until June 6, 2017 . And also after this date…
When did the improvements begin?
CRS recent improvements took place during the last November. The number of CRS points added for a qualifying job offer was significantly reduced from 600 to 50 or 200, depending on the job offer. Also, during the same period of time, IRCC made a change to award additional points to candidates who had completed their education in one of Canada’s Universities.
Until today, IRCC has ramped up the number of candidates that have received an ITA. Only during the first three months of 2016 saw a total of 9,465 ITAs issued. During these last three months (the first three months of 2017), a total of 24,652 ITAs have been issued. This is an increase of more than 160 percent!
