One of the most popular immigration streams, the Nova Scotia’s province immigration stream, is now officially scheduled to reopen in the upcoming weeks. This stream is a great opportunity for many Express Entry candidates to immigrate to Canada for one of 16 targeted occupations.
Nova Scotia, through its Nominee Program (NSNP), will welcome applications for a provincial nomination certificate from the Express Entry stream. This stream was closed for new applications since December, 2015.
This stream is an Express Entry-aligned one. That is why, all candidates with a provincial nomination get automatically 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points. They also go at the front of the line in the Express Entry pool. This means they have bigger chances to qualify for a subsequent draw from the pool.
It is expected that up to 250 applications will be automatically accepted online for the B Category of the stream. To get the acceptation, the candidates must have at least one year of work experience in a target occupation. The good thing is, the candidates don’t need an active job offer for this category. This it’s because it offers candidates in the Express Entry pool a simple and fast way to apply for a provincial nomination certificate on a first-come.
On the other hand, there is still no indication that the A category for which candidates must have a full-time permanent job offer from a Nova Scotia employer, will reopen in the upcoming application cycle.
